: About timing... I hear 15 BTDC for economic, and 13BTDC for HP.. but no further than 13.... comments? Stock is 15 +/- 2 degrees....so : 13 is retarding the timing, lowering combustion temps inside the engine, thus producing less hp 17 is advancing, raiosing temps and spark, thus improving performance, but also because of the high temps, increasing chances of detonation.
: Well I am just gonna tune her up (new plugs, fuel filter, check timing etc.. then do a compression test... then if all is well... off to another dyno I go.. =) : So what do you think... 14.7 or 13.5 ...say ideal is 14.7.... 13.5 would be a tad lean.. but creating a tad more HP without hardly any risk of engine damage.... am i correct on this? You have this backward as well. the 14.7 number would be leaner than the 13.5. The higher the number the more lean you are running. Just FYI--On a turbo car a safe place is 12.5...higher than that and you are running lean, lower you will get a bit less performance but a larger margin of safety.
